Long-distance move from Wilmington, DE to Phoenix, AZ

Terrible Company.

This company is terrible! Absolutely do not use them. I hired them to move my deceased sister's belongings across the country. When they arrived, the movers demanded an additional $700 beyond what was quoted. The movers "lost" my sister's artwork, TV and stained glass lamp. My claim for the loss of property was denied. When the delivery was made, the driver drove across my neighbor's property, destroying much vegetation. It took several months, calls and emails to finally get compensation for my neighbor's destroyed property. I was told they would send a check for $350. The check received was for fifty dollars less and, get this, when my neighbor attempted to cash the check, it was returned due to insufficient funds. DO NOT HIRE this company.

Scam Artists-One Bridge Plaza Fort Lee New Jersey DOES NOT EXIST.

These people are scam artists. They showed up in rented trucks from Enterprise and U-HAUL. Got 1 truck half loaded and wanted to jack the price from $8700 to $12588. I had a binding quote. He said he couldn't do it for less. I called Adam with whom I had been working. He says there's nothing he can do, guy on site is in charge of move. So I told guy on site, unload my stuff. Suddenly he can do it for amount quoted. But my furniture is now barely getting shrink wrapped. Next to no blankets are used. They're mad, so they're tossing things on the truck. Second day, they show up FOUR HOURS LATE, he tries to get more money again. Then he wants me to leave the Pay To the Order of check line blank! He's nuts!! They tell me they'll be at my home May 3 or 4 but will call me before they leave. No call. I text driver. No response. I call driver on May 4. He says they'll be they May 6 at 9am. May 6 at 9:10 I call. Where are you?, I ask? I have woken him up!! Be there in 30 minutes he says. He shows up 75 minutes later and demands the check before he'll start unloading. He leaves my home with all my property in his two trucks and I have to call the police to get them back and force them to start unloading. Lots and lots of damage. I'll probably never see that paid claim. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use Anthem. I don't know how they manage to keep their official complaints of the government web site but they are definitely crooks.

Official company response

Robin it is really upsetting that you would write such a review after we did such a great job with your move. Not only did you add hundreds of additional item that we did not charge you for it we also showed up a day early and helped you pack FOR FREE since you were panicking that you were not going to be ready in time for the move. We also drove two 26 ft trucks straight to your delivery over 800 miles and always except payment prior to off loading as does every moving company in north america and is suggested by the D.O.T. Writing this review is shameful at the least.

Amazing job.

Amazing job by Anthem Moving! From setting up the delivery over phone and email, to confirmation, to drivers arriving, packing the truck and unpacking to final payment - everyone involved was professional, friendly, honest, efficient and careful. Igor and Vlad were the best movers I could have asked for! they made the move pleasant and easy. I’d highly recommend them for anyone for their move. This was the best moving experience I’ve ever had and I have moved many times. Thank you Igor & Vlad!!

Long-distance move from Connecticut to Washington DC

Horrible Experience - Don’t Use.

This was the most stressful move I ever made. The sales and labor aspects of the business don’t work together. Adam Green made promises he could not fulfill, didn’t inform me when the movers would come, never called me back when promised, raised the price of my move twice and yelled at me over the phone when I complained that the movers wanted to raise the price of my move again upon delivery. He did not listen to the customer. He only gave me excuses and acted unprofessional. When I asked for his superior he told me that he was the manager and when I asked to speak to the owner (of the family owned business) he dared me to contact them to complain. On the labor side things were better but several of my items were damaged upon arrival and some never made the van. I had to pack them up in my car. The arrival team was three and one of them was really rough with the furniture. The delivery team was only two men and has to unpack someone else’s furniture before mine so they could unload which took a while and to help move things along I helped them with some assembly. Jessica and Danny were very understanding and nice. If I could have I would have spoken with them directly instead of going through sales, it would have been a different experience. I will go with a big moving company in the future.

Long-distance move from Hoboken, NJ to Boston, MA

Worst company, only delivered after lawyer threaten legal action.

TLDR; company is not professional, upcharges constantly after initial sale, constant delays, damaged furniture and lost stuff. Use anyone else.

I would recommend using any other moving company. Here is how your potential experience with Anthem Moving will go:

Sales guy will call you, give you the spiel that they can get the job done well and at a price point in your budget. It sounds great! And you need a mover last minute! But trust me, go anywhere else that is also carrier, or better yet rent a uhaul, but packaging materials, a few friends, and move yourself.

If you decide to go through with it, be prepared for a [EDIT] storm. You’ll get less than 24 hours notice for the pick up crew, so if you need to reserve parking, ha good luck! Then they’ll threaten you when they show up about it.

When they finally arrive, the foreman and the crew will not speak English and will upcharge hundreds to move your stuff. They pack it up, goes on truck, and promise it will deliver as soon as possible!

Once they have your stuff, you are screwed! They will say delivery x day, then never call you. You’ll have to constantly call customer service to get any info, but they won’t have it!! They say they’re calling dispatch, a guy David who works for Home Run Moving, so the whole company is a front!! I was given 6 delivery dates before my stuff arrived, with every excuse in the book!

I had my lawyer call and threaten legal action against the company, and my stuff showed up the next day. So the only way to get them to do their job is to threaten legal and police action.

I highly recommend using anyone else! Feel free to reach out with any other questions.

Watch out for Sarah, Adam, James, Danny, all these idiots.

Long-distance move from Jackson, TN to Phoenix, AZ

Worst experience ever.

STAY AWAY from Anthem! This has been the absolute most awful, horrible, nightmarish experience I’ve ever had with any company ever! I moved from TN to AZ. Days late picking up, I had to push back closing on my house. I had to fly back to return to work so my neighbor had to facilitate the move when they finally did come. My realtor had called a local moving company as a back up to get my stuff put in storage in case Anthem didn’t show up. They said they would be there at 8am, 11am, 3, 5…. They didn’t get there until almost 7pm. My neighbor waited the entire day for them to get there. They claim I had a lot more items than I had said and charged me $2,000 more. I was on the phone with Adam for like 2 hours trying to debate the price increase. He mentioned several times my call had interrupted his family’s dinner, yet didn’t seem concerned at all that they caused me to push back my closing and put my neighbor & my realtor out. I told Adam I no longer trusted this company & was afraid they would lose my stuff. He responded by saying that sometimes that does happen! I asked to speak to the owner so Adam allegedly tries to call the owner. When he got back on the line with me he said the owner told him he was busy and hung up on him. I finally caved and let them move forward, they wrote on the contract my stuff would be delivered in 14 days. 4 weeks later, nothing. I rented a storage unit but by this time I had closed on a new house so I sent an email and told them to just bring my stuff to my new house. To make sure they got the message, I called & spoke to Theo and told him the same thing. Then the driver tells me they are coming Saturday. So I called Anthem and got a woman who told me I would be charged a redelivery fee because I didn’t specify a delivery date. I told her that I spoke to Theo and told him what day to deliver and she said no, I didn’t. She said that it was impossible that Theo would not have noted that, and then she told me that I didn’t call, I just sent an email. I told her I did call, and then read the email back to her where I stated to deliver my stuff on Monday. She said, “well, that email still wasn’t specific enough.” Adam finally calls me and said he “took care of it,” and my stuff would be delivered on Monday. Saturday driver texts me and says, “bye the way, we only take cash.” I called Anthem again and explained that they should have told me I needed cash way before this, because I didn’t have a bank account here yet and had no way to access my cash from Tennessee on that short of notice. The reps asked, “so the driver said he can only take cash?” What the heck? Shouldn’t you know what the accepted form of payment is? And why can you take payment by phone for deposit but not for delivery? There was no communication between the movers and the Anthem reps. Then driver texts me and says they won’t be here Monday, it’ll be later in the week. Then he tells me it’ll be another $600. I called Adam again and said, no, I am not paying anything more. Adam took care of that, and Wed night driver calls me and says they will be here at 8am Thurs. I took the day off work to be there, 2:30 comes around so I call Anthem to find out where they are because I can’t take off anymore days from work. The rep tells me I need to be patient! Seriously?! 4pm movers get here in a U-haul. They deliver a mass of destruction to my house (see photos). The boxes were all torn and smashed in, my desk was completely destroyed, my washer and dryer were banged up, my floor lamp was ruined, my other furniture had scuffs and marks all over it. And they did not deliver either of my bookshelves and I am missing some boxes. They told me the movers would reassemble furniture and hook up my washer and dryer, they didn’t do that. By the time they were finished, I was so livid about the damage to my items that I didn’t even ask them to do those things because I just wanted them out of my house. Worst company and worst experience ever.

Excellent service.

Excellent service and really nice people to work with. The movers bring a nice touch, and are quick without breaking anything. They wrap up all your furniture up in blankets or shrink wrap and ensure a safe delivery and pack the truck well. They were very accommodating with my dog getting in the way and delivered everything to the rooms we asked them to. The wardrobe boxes are a great touch and made moving clothes super simple. Would definitely use Anthem Moving if/when we move again!

The team was helpful and friendly from the moment I made the first phone call. The move was completed in a timely matter and everything went very smooth. The movers were people who obviously have experience in this business and were very careful with my Items. I appreciate how quickly they were able to move my things with such precision. They were very reasonable when coming to my budget, working with me to make it feasible, other companies were charging me too much. The staff was very professional would definitely recommend this company to anybody wanting to move their home State to State.

Great.

Anthem Moving LLC came recommended by a friend who helps move people for a living and I had a great experience.. The crew of four started at 8:30 as promised, and worked steadily the entire day. The were pleasant, professional and really knew what they were doing. After disassembling beds and other furniture, they had me walk through the rooms in the new house, and they knew what pieces went with which room, better than I did! They reassembled, gave me time to get bed skirts on, never rushed, but got the job done. They are the best.

I wish I would have done my resesarch.

This experience was marketed as something easy and professional.. which was far from the truth. Lots of unkept promises from start to finish with the carriers on the ground telling us something completely different than Anthem. The movers arrived late after confirming their arrival date. In addition, the timeline they treated as a valid timeline was very far from the truth. A "5-7" day move turned into 2 and a half weeks with missing items. Their suggestion to make it right included.. a link with several things to fill out and a long turn around time with a claim. Throughout this entire experience, it was obvious they lacked integrity and were finished once they got the initial sale over the phone. I would pay other people to not use this service and do not recommend it to ANYONE.

Long-distance move from California to New Jersey

Excellent work.

I recently completed a cross country move. I had gotten quotes from 2 of the other large companies and the Anthem Quote was the least expensive. I got them to give me a quote which saved me hundreds of dollars in the end because they underestimated the weight of my shipment. But to make a long story short, I was VERY pleased. The agent in NY was very responsive and very understanding of my paranoia. (I actually began to weigh each box myself on my bathroom scale to make sure that I wasn't getting cheated). The packers were phenomenal and the men who delivered my items in New Jersey were also phenomenal. I have unpacked about half of my items and everything is in the same condition in which I shipped it. I must say that I am a bit neurotic and I packed everything myself (very well!). But, they charged me what they quoted me.

Use at your own risk! They try to scam you!

No items for a month & they tried to charge me for 1.5x the amount of items I had.

It started off great because Philip was friendly and they had competitive rates (for my small move). I informed Philip of what little I had to move and he said the minimum was 300cuft, so that's what I reserved. I was told that I had a significant amount of space beyond what I reserved that I could "add a fridge and still have room". I added a few boxes and went over the itinerary a second time with Adam - who said I still had plenty of space and got the okay to add a bbq grill.

The mover, Al, was friendly when he arrived and got straight to work once I showed him what was being moved. Once the boxes & grill were loaded we went to the 5'x5' storage unit to get the rest of my items. After the unit was loaded I was asked how long I was told my shipment would take. I told him 4-14 days & he said "maybe". Then I was told I had 150cuft over the 300cuft I had reserved (their minimum). As soon as I questioned the footage his attitude completely changed and I was informed by him that he "was only a day-laborer and had nothing to benefit from by "padding" the bill". I said I wasn't accusing him of that but that there was no way I went 150cuft over the 300cuft I had reserved. He asked me if I would target pay $6/cuft instead of the $3.50 I was paying. I told him he couldn't change the contact we already had. Then he asked if I'd rather have him unload the van & leave my stuff there so I could find another mover - on a Sunday as it's starting to sprinkle so he knew I really didn't have a choice. I asked him to measure my items and he said he didn't have a tape measure and that it was a "visual estimate". At this point I contacted Philip who contacted Adam who called Al. While on the phone Al said I was "one of those" and asked how I paid my deposit so it could be refunded and he could unload his truck. I refused unless I had cash-in-hand because I definitely didn't trust them to refund me at this point and was stuck signing for the visual estimate of 450cuft instead of the 300cuft.

As the end of week 2 was coming up I contacted the company because I hadn't heard from them about my delivery window. I also asked about the size of my shipment because I was still disputing it. I was told that I'd receive a call from Adam. A few days go by & I call again. I'm told I'll receive a call from Adam. Another day or 2 and I get a call saying that Adam called Natalie Tucker (not me) instead but that he'd call me after he was off of the phone. I received a call from Adam the next day who didn't have my paperwork, couldn't tell me the delivery timeframe, and couldn't tell me the footage that was loaded but that they'd work with me on the price. I told him it's not the price, I want to know what was actually loaded because I wasn't paying beyond what physically arrived. Again, he said they'd work with me when the delivery came but still no word on when it would come.

Day 27 I receive a call from the delivery driver saying he'll be there the next day so I called customer service to get payment squared away. I received a call from "Alex". I asked if this was the same "Al" that picked up my stuff because I wasn't dealing with him and wanted a manager. He told me he was above the manager because he was the owner. He remembered me once I said he lied about being a day-laborer and would gain by overcharging me. He then told me that even with overcharging he was only making $200 on my move & that I needed to pay the balance in cash or money order before my items would be unloaded and that I could measure the empty space on the truck & request a refund.
Day 29 my things finally arrive & get unloaded into my garage onto cardboard I had laid out ~ approx 6'x9.5'. They didn't reach 5' so I called customer service and spoke with Adam who asked to speak with driver who said it wasn't 300cuft. He hung up, handed me my phone, and said that I was paid in full.

After getting out of a long term relationship, I had to move with very little notice and under very stressful circumstances. Anthem Moving Services made my move from Staten Island to Midtown that much less stressful. They were very friendly and patient when I called with my many questions. They arrived on time and the entire process was very professional. They worked quickly and carefully. The movers were very friendly and definitely went the extra mile. It was not the easiest building to move into! I am so happy to have found them. They were able to take one thing off of my plate while I was going through a difficult time. Atrocious.

Stay far away from this company. It's the most unprofessional and unorganized service we've ever experienced. The driving people themselves were nice but the people running the company are completely not trustworthy.

1. Finished loading after midnight keeping neighbors awake with noise.

2. Promised us we would have our stuff within 3-6 days but took 34 days. Didn't call ever to let us know the status of the move during the month so we had to sleep on the floor for the entire month of July. This caused us some neck pain and chiropractic bills.

3. Lost at least 5 items and broke many more. The actual delivery came in two separate trucks at two separate times. They dropped other peoples items off with ours.

4. Lied to use saying they wouldn't charge us the rest of the delivery fee and then told the drivers that they said no such thing.

The list goes on and on. Do not trust this company with your things. They will take your money and hold your stuff hostage.

Anthem Moving.

In a technologically advanced world we live in, Anthem Moving can’t find or track their subcontracted truck drivers. They seemingly cannot contact them either. The claim website wouldn’t work for me after five attempts. False promises galore over six months. I’ve been waiting four months for a redelivery of my three things that were misplaced. I’ve received 80% of my things in decent condition from IL to AZ and I am grateful, but I paid over $2,000 for an incomplete job. I wouldn’t recommend any “professional” moving service. Move and oversee your own things.

Read all the reviews!

I waited a month to write this review to give them a chance to find the items that were lost. I’ll start at the beginning.. Adrian gave me all the information for my move & assured me she would be there to answer any of my questions. I found out quickly that was not true. The “direct” line to her was not to her at all. I could never get to speak with her again.
I was told someone would call 2 weeks before my move to get an update, in case I had more or less items. Did not happen.
I was told someone would call me on a specific day to tell me when the movers would pick up my household. Did not happen. Only after I called at 4:30 on that day, did I receive a call back. They said someone would be there in the afternoon. They came at 7:30 at night. They said I had too much more stuff that it would be $1200 more. They only take specific types of payment so you have no recourse if you are not happy with the service. I called Customer Service and couldn’t get through.
I called the number that Adrian gave me to discuss this but was told by a man (Jordan?) that he could not help me but I would have to call customer service. When I tried to explain that I couldn’t get through, he hung up on me. Hung up on me. (Is hen I got through to CS they said he had meant to put me on hold but where you work do you put someone on hold when they are mid sentence?)
It took more calls and 6 days for my things to be delivered at which point the movers said they were going to charge me extra because it was too far from truck to my apartment. (When I made the initial arrangements it was to move in on the 12th of July. It’s in the contract that says it can be 5-7 days depending on drivers time on the road. I moved from Jersey to Massachusetts. You might not see that portion of the contract at initial contact but don’t make specific plans on dates..)
I was delivered someone else’s box and I am missing multiple items. I called Customer Service and was told she would look into my missing items and call me back on Friday. 4 weeks ago. No call back
Bottom line- This was a horrible experience. The company picks up multiple locations and delivers multiple locations at the same time. If you are moving to another state spend the money with a company that values its customers and does what they say they will do. With this one, they get their money and they are done with you.

I had a lot of personal issues come up that made my move very confusing and difficult to execute, and the customer service of this company was second to none. Everyone I spoke to was kind, helpful, and went out of their way to make my move as easy as possible. Sarah was amazing and really helped me figure out my financing and execution of the move. The movers themselves were fantastic. Baldo and his crew worked efficiently and got everything done quickly and safely. Very pleasant and understanding, they even helped me with assembly although they didn’t have to. I don’t have enough good things to say about my moving experience with Anthem.

We needed to move our household items to two separate locations. I called these guys after reading reviews. They seemed to be a very professional. The estimator from Anthem Moving, met me exactly as scheduled to provide an estimate. Their truck and movers showed up precisely as requested right on time. They loaded my garage storage in 3 hours and our furniture from the storage space in 2 hours. They delivered and unloaded our possessions and re-assembled everything!! They were very nice and accommodated all of our wishes. We were unsure of where items were going and moved them from room to room several times. I felt like a pain, but we are not capable of moving heavy items. The guys did it with a smile on their face and never complained. Everything exactly like clockwork. THE WORST EVER: DO NOT USE: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. They get a single star only because they won't post this review without checking at least one. I took a shot against my better judgment and got burned. I went back and forth three times regarding my inventory and what they should expect arriving at 655 cf of space required. I worked directly with James Wagner, at least that is the name he used in his email. However, when Randy and his partner arrived and did their walk through to confirm the number, Randy's new number became 1600 cf. I freaked out as it now doubled my cost. Settlement on the house was set for the following morning. Zero shot at getting someone else in time. I literally told Randy "what choice do I have, you have me by the *#@&%". They know the game as he followed up by stating "we only accept cash, money order or certified check" so I wouldn't be able to put a stop on it like I could if it were a personal check. So off to the bank I go when I get a text msg informing me everything was loaded but they didn't load my tools from the garage and they now wanted even more money. When I returned I was unable to see how they packed the truck as they placed a queen mattress crosswise in the very back and proceeded to tell me it was full. Oh, they also had the nerve to ask for a bonus of 10% to 20% based on how good a job I thought they did. DENIED. I still have to get all my tools out of the garage before settlement so off to a local mini storage I go. On the way I speak with Adam Green who deeply apologizes and say he will have the guys return the next day to the mini storage and transport my tools as well as pick up the cost of the storage unit. My belongings all went to a third party warehouse for temporary storage. In the warehouse my things were all placed into 3 vaults 378 cf each. One vault was full, one was 1/3 empty and the 3rd was 2/3 empty effectively taking up 756 cf. I also had them transport a canoe which occupied 65 cf. for a total of 825 cf. rounding up. Now 4 days later Mr. Green has yet to return any of my calls let alone refund me a cent. I REPEAT, DO NOT USE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
